Aftercare
Waxing aftercare
Freshly waxed skin is briefly open and a little sensitive. A day of leaving it alone does most of the work.
The first 24 hours
- Skip heat — no saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, or hot showers. Keep water lukewarm.
- Avoid heavy sweating, so no gym, running, or hot yoga.
- Stay out of direct sun and away from tanning beds.
- Try not to touch the area. Hands carry bacteria to skin that is briefly open.
- Wear something loose over a waxed area rather than anything that rubs.
- Some redness and small bumps are normal and usually settle within a few hours.
The first 48 hours
- No exfoliating — no scrubs, washcloths, dry brushes, or exfoliating tools on the area.
- Keep retinoids and strong acids off the waxed skin.
- Skip swimming pools and hot tubs.
- Fragranced lotions and deodorant on freshly waxed underarms can sting; plain and simple is kinder for a day.
Keeping it smooth until next time
- From about day three, exfoliate gently two or three times a week. This is what prevents ingrown hairs.
- Moisturize daily — soft skin lets new hair break through cleanly rather than curling back in.
- Wear SPF 30+ on any waxed area that sees sun. Fresh skin marks easily.
- Let the hair grow to about a quarter inch before your next visit, and don't shave in between — shaving resets the growth cycle.
- Results usually last three to six weeks. Legs and underarms tend toward the longer end; facial hair cycles faster.
When to call us
Most of what happens after a treatment is normal. Call or text (920) 214-5867 if you see any of the following. If it feels urgent, contact your doctor or urgent care.
- Skin that lifted or broke during the wax and has not closed within a day.
- Blistering, or an area that weeps or crusts.
- A rash or bumps that spread or worsen after the first day rather than settling.
- Any sign of infection — swelling, heat, or pus.
